Frequently asked questions

Answers about how CVBoost works, file formats, matching scores, privacy, and how this differs from a generic chatbot.

What is CVBoost?

A tool that analyses how well your CV meets a specific job ad and can suggest a rewritten CV and optional cover letter based on what you already wrote — without inventing experience you do not have.

Do I need an account?

No. You can use the main flow on the home page without signing in. An optional account can store a professional area so wording in suggestions is more consistent over time.

Which file formats can I upload as my CV?

PDF or plain text (.txt). Word (.docx) files are not supported in the uploader — save or export to PDF if your CV is in Word.

How should I read the match percentages?

You get an overview including must-have requirements, nice-to-have requirements, and an overall match score, plus a breakdown of individual requirements so you can see what appears met or missing relative to the ad.

Does the service invent experience?

No. Suggestions are meant to build on your existing CV text. You are responsible for ensuring everything you submit and use in applications is accurate.

When do I get a full new CV draft?

A tailored CV is generated when the overall match sits in a range where rewriting makes sense: at very low match (below about 60%) the result focuses on analysis and suggestions rather than a full rewrite; at very high match (about 90% or more) the CV may stay largely unchanged with clarifications instead.

Can I have the result emailed to me?

Yes, after a run you can enter an email address and send the result to yourself where that feature is enabled on the site.

How is my data handled?

Without an account, your CV and ad are primarily processed for the current request. With an account we store data needed for the account and your choices — see the GDPR page and Terms. You can upload an anonymised CV if you want to limit personal data in the file.

How is CVBoost different from using an AI chat?

You get structured matching against the ad’s requirements, a clear presentation of results, CV and cover letter download as PDF, and optional email delivery — in a flow built for per-ad tailoring, not generic CV templates.

Are there other tools on the site?

Yes: CV Booster (optional job posting for role-tailored improvements), CV–LinkedIn gap analysis, and CV Match. CV & Letter (/cv-brev) provides full match analysis, a tailored CV when the score is in range, and an optional cover letter. The landing page (/) summarizes the product.

How do I export my LinkedIn profile as a PDF for the CV–LinkedIn gap analysis?

On desktop: open your public LinkedIn profile, click “More” (⋯) next to the Add profile section / Edit public profile button, and choose “Save to PDF”. Upload that file in the field marked with an asterisk (*) on the CV–LinkedIn page. On phone the steps may differ—open the profile in a browser, switch to desktop view if needed, and use the menu that offers Save as PDF. This PDF is your public view; it is not the same as a full data export archive (ZIP).
